If you have an Atlant washing machine without a display, the first and second indicators are lit on the panel, which means that the washer reports error code F12.
SM electronic models show error F12 on the display. How to troubleshoot a trouble code? We will understand the reasons for its appearance and carry out diagnostics of the details.
Error value
When the error F12 is displayed on the Atlant washing machine, it is important to understand that it means a problem with the engine or its breakdown. Therefore, if the Atlant washing machine does not start washing and generates an F12 error, the reason must be sought in the details of the engine (motor).
Engine types. Principle of operation
Without understanding the device and the principle of the motor, you will not understand how to fix the breakdown.
There are three types of engine. Some of them are used on modern models of CMA Atlant, others are located in earlier versions.
- Asynchronous. Durable and reliable motor. It features a simple design, which is based on the rotor and stator.
- Collector. Small motor with high speed. The main components: rotor, stator, electric brushes and tachogenerator.
- Direct drive (brushless). It has high efficiency and simple design. It is distinguished by the absence of unnecessary parts, the stator and rotor are the basis of the design.
We must say right away that only the collector type is subject to independent repair. Therefore, we will focus on its verification and replacement of components on the Atlant washing machine.
How to remove the motor from the Atlant washing machine
To remove the F12 error from the SM Atlant screen, you need to understand how to eliminate the cause of its appearance. To do this, remove the engine from the machine and carry out its diagnostics. What does it mean:
- Unplug the SMA plug from the wall outlet.
- Remove the screws that secure the rear panel of the Atlant washer.
- The engine is located below. Remove the drive belt from it.
- Unclench the harnesses and pull them out of the connectors.
- Unscrew the fixing screws as shown in the photo.
- Remove the motor of the Atlant washing machine.
Frequent breakdowns and solutions
To reset the F12 error and solve the problem, we test the main parts of the engine.
What to do to identify the causes of the malfunction:
- Connect the stator and rotor windings. Connect a 220-volt device to their connectors. The motor must rotate. If the brushes malfunction, you will notice how they sparkle.
- When starting, you can hear how the engine makes a lot of noise, heats up, does not work at full capacity. Probably there was a break in the stator and rotor windings. The multimeter is connected to the lamellas of the winding, as shown in the photo.
- Resistance can vary by no more than 0.5 ohms. In another case, a short circuit could occur - a visual inspection will help determine it. You will see burnt areas and you will feel an unpleasant smell.
- Measure the resistance of the stator winding, applying alternately the probes to the housing and terminals, as in the photo.
- Normal resistance will be very high.
In the event of a malfunction, the motor will have to be completely replaced. After installing a new element, error code F12 should no longer be lit on the Atlant washer display.
Brush wear
Brushes are located on both sides of the engine, during prolonged use they are erased, wear out. How to solve a problem:
- Disconnect the wires from the brushes.
- Remove the fixing screws.
- Remove the brushes, inspect them for wear.
If you need to replace the brushes for the Atlant washing machine, be sure to select them according to the type of motor.
Install in the reverse order.
Lamella problems
Remove the rotor and inspect the manifold. Due to the high voltage, the lamella can peel off, due to which it loses contact with the rotor winding. There is a possibility of breakage or damage to the wire that connects the lamella to the rotor.
Use a lathe to groove the lamella connectors and fix the F12 error. There should be no burrs on the surface, and the connectors must be well cleaned.
How carefully do you need to clean the gaps? Attach the ohmmeter probes to the lamellas: if a short circuit is displayed, then you still need to work out the site.
